This kitchen was dated and inefficient. The high counter in the island divided the kitchen from the Family Room preventing light and separating it from the otherwise open Living Space. Restore North Shore opened the kitchen while working around a structural post. We framed the island with two posts hiding the structural element and installed a dark stained mahogany 2” thick counter top. The beam connecting the two posts doubles as a space to hang the two large School house lights over the island.
We installed a long hutch connecting the Living and Dining Room with the Kitchen, and installed bookshelves across from the hutch. The bookshelves served a dual purpose separating the Powder Room from the Living Spaces as well as creating a corridor inviting guests into the open Kitchen Family Room. From the back entrance, the Wolfe Range offers a lovely focal point with a custom Hood framing the ceramic detail. The small Bar area invites guests to enjoy both the Family Room and the back deck. The smoky Mirror Backsplash over the mahogany wood top adds a little light and interest as you move through the room. The spaces throughout the first floor now offer a natural dialogue inviting the family and guests to move fluidly throughout the space. The transformation of this Kitchen and Family Room flooded the space with light and opened up the space allowing the family to easily enjoy entertaining as well as time together.
“Margaret and her team were professional, innovative and always accessible during our kitchen and bath renovation. She was able to transform our small, non-functional kitchen into a pristine, high end, cost effective, gorgeous kitchen. We love it!”
